Cute little wind-up car

This car looks just like "luigi" from Cars. The wind-up thing on the back even rotates!

Knitted Stripey Scarf

With temperatures in California hovering around freezing, it's definitely scarf season! I knitted this scarf for J, but, it's either not "hip" enough for him or he just always runs hot, so I have been wearing it! The yarn was left over from Elizabeth (Thank you Elizabeth!) when she stayed with us. Some people have said the colors look like the "Ravenclaw" house (Harry Potter), but when I searched online, the Ravenclaw house scarf was blue and gold (not light and dark blue). Yes, I have caught the knitting bug. I'm currently working on a sweater for T, and have made several knitted hats (no, not "toques", exactly) like the one Lyra wore (pattern) on the Golden Compass.

My little frost angels

You don't know what a big deal it is to get frost on the GRASS around here! So exciting! The kids are sporting their new snow pants we got for Yosemite at Christmas.

In the background you'll see the bird of paradise still blooming, and our hard working chard patch which has been a dinner staple for us recently.

Frosty morning!

The kids made "frost angels" in the frosty grass, and J even managed to make a decent sized frost-ball!

Fairy Tale Knits

This book has some delightful patterns for children. Each pattern is tied to fairy tales, somehow: fairy hat, winter queen dress, robin hood tunic, etc. I especially liked the crown hats!

There's snow on them hills!

This is one of the dangerous taken-while-driving blurry, doesn't-show- enough-detail photos... But you can see a tiny bit of snow on the one piece of hill poking out in this photo! (kinda on the left) Yay! Winter!

The Cute Book (outside)

I showed this book to my daughter and asked, "Would you like to make any of these?" We flipped through the small hard cover book and oooohed and aaaaahed at the adorable little felt creations. "YES!" was her verdict.

The Cute Book (inside)

I love books that have simple step-by-step instructions. This book is a nice balance between enough instructions to get by while leaving some room for alteration/imagination.
